The Sentosa Resort and Spa

My friend Mary Ann (she also is faculty at UB) and I decided to treat ourselves to a short spa getaway this Saturday-Sunday. We booked a room at the Sentosa Resort and Spa on Sentosa Island, which is about 15 minutes away from where we are currently staying. The island is known as a little tourist destination around Southeast Asia. It even has a brand new Universal Studios.

As part of our stay, we got to enjoy the Spa Botanica. It was lovely set of pools with waterfalls to massage you and even a mud bath. It was very relaxing and peaceful. I might go back there for the day. It was just 40 sing for the entire day for people not staying at the resort. They give you a robe, flip flops, a locker, all the tea and water you can drink. You can get food and drinks at their restaurant. It was really quite lovely. Also, the resort has peacocks everywhere, so I took lots of pictures of those. They supposedly have monkeys too, but I didn't see any of those.

Here are some pictures:

A close-up of the mom. She was too funny. She went to every table in the restaurant that had people and stopped to see if anyone would give her food. She was an excellent panhandler!

Possibly the daddy peacock?

One of the most hysterical signs I have seen so far in Singapore. Too bad we didn't see any of the ransacking monkeys!

Me covered in mud, although you cannot tell because it seems to be the exact color of my skin (those are Mary Ann's knees in case you were wondering).

The island also has several beaches. As you will see in my pictures though, the beaches are a little different from what we might be used to in the US. While they are beautiful, they are surrounded by 100's of tankers and oil platforms.

Here are some pictures of the beach:

Now, it is back to work for me. I have teach all day tomorrow.
