Just being a tourist

Somehow last year when I was here, I missed a bunch of the "places you should see" in Singapore.  The six weeks went by incredibly fast! So, I determined that this year, I would go see a much as I could.  Saturday, I did just that. I decided to be a big girl and get out there all by myself. If you know me, normally I wouldn't do that, so I am proud of my initiative. My first stop was Fort Canning Park. I actually walked there from my hotel. It is about a 3-3.5 mile walk along the canal.

In a nutshell, Fort Canning Park encompasses a hill that was the center of the kingdom around 1300 AD. Around 1860, it was turned into a fort. Now it is a beautiful lush park with lots of trails.

Some of my many pictures are below (more to be posted on Facebook).

There were lots and lots of stairs!  I actually wound up walking at total of 8 miles that day!

These are the Capolas. There is no record of their date of construction or what they were for...

This is the history of the Five Kings of Singapore in comic form. Very funny!!

Marina Bay Sands (which I am excited to say I will be visiting tomorrow for the first time-so excited!!)
